I aim to share the amazing space OT supervision can create and hold for you.

OT supervision is a complex skill and experience. That does not mean it's complicated, but the complexity of our work and its impact on our clients, organisations, businesses, and ourselves are complex.

OT supervision is not a tick-box experience; it is not the same as line management, appraisal or service development projects.

In OT supervision, every piece we explore and shift has a knock-on impact on other aspects of your learning, work, and life. Therefore, it needs space; we need to give it value and time to truly understand the benefits it will bring. But you already know this; that is why you are here, reading this and ready to explore what OT supervision can bring you, your work and your life. The balance that is unique to you.

I am developing self-paced training to enhance your supervision skills. Looking at both theory and practical ideas on how to facilitate and manage in your practice.

To support these self-paced modules, I will be available for group calls, where you can explore and discuss putting the theory into practice. Brainstorm challenges that arise, reflect on experiences to enhance your supervisory practice.

Balance work and life roles

We spend our working days helping our clients live the lives they desire. We are great problem solvers and goal-setters and strive to help people live well.       

However, we do not always apply this to ourselves. 

OTs can find it difficult to balance the demands of work and life, which can lead to disappointment, frustration, and dissatisfaction with our profession.

Not only that, but it can have a huge impact on our personal lives and roles. We are more than our work. 

When our values, boundaries and demands of work and life are not in balance, it leads to friction. 

Too many OTs find themselves on the path to burnout, loosing confidence, being exhausted, overwhelmed by sensory &/or emotional responses.

OT supervision with me can support you, help you reflect, and make you feel confident about living and working in alignment.

OT supervision is the perfect place to connect your CPD to clinical practice and business development. Enabling you to keep up to date with evidence-based and evidence-informed practice.

Effective CPD is demonstrated by its impact on learning, growth, practice, and business development.

OT supervision supports this by helping you develop your clinical reasoning skills, build on your reflective practice, and highlight the impact of these over time. This allows you to review the impact of your CPD in the short, medium, and long term.

I support OTs through their journey of preparing evidence for their HCPC audit portfolio. When you have had effective supervision and maintained your CPD record and evidence base, this process is simple.

When looking to upskill supervision skills, you want a program that is evidence-based in healthcare supervision. 

I have developed a model of OT supervision. Although this model discusses long-arm / external supervision, many aspects of the theory are applicable to in-person supervision, too. 

Supervision skills are like all other OT skills; we need to practice them, update them and get support to reflect on them.

Supervision skills training can be applied to healthcare, social care, education, and diverse settings. As OTs, we work in so many environments, and our supervision skills need to reflect this diversity. 

When I ask OTs who they talk to about their supervision skills, Do you have supervision specifically for this? The answer is generally, "Well, I might bring it up occasionally with my clinical supervisor, but only if I have a problem."

It is so important to enhance your supervisory skills and to have supervision specifically on this. Effective supervision can have a positive impact on the individual, service, and OT business/organisation. 

The training will enhance your supervisory skills and provide you with group support to apply this theory into practice. This support will allow you to reflect, learn, and grow your supervisory skills.
